What should I read if I like a good Girls Guide to murder? ›

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is a young adult mystery series by Holly Jackson. The series consists of four novels: A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (2019); Good Girl, Bad Blood (2020); As Good As Dead (2021); and Kill Joy (2022).

I 100% recommend to people who love murder mysteries. This is one of the best books I've ever read. The characters are really relatable.

Pip's concluding remarks in her capstone presentation bring the theme of public shame to a head. She addresses the community, stating that they all played a role in the Bell case. Their treatment of Sal's memory turned him into a monster and his family into a target. She warns that they—as a community—must do better.

Ravi Singh is the brother of Salil (Sal) Singh and the boyfriend of Pippa Fitz-Amobi.

Adapted for the BBC from Holly Jackson's New York Times bestselling novel by Poppy Cogan (Red Rose, Dangerous Liaisons), the six-part series will be made by Moonage Pictures (The Pursuit of Love), and will film in 2023 for broadcast on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer.

The author, Holly, includes characters of all backgrounds including LGBTQ and BAME. Pip is a very clever A grade student who makes it her mission to uncover the closed case of the murder of Andie Bell.

I would not be gifting/recommending this to anyone under the age of 18. But it most likely could be approporiate for some under 18yr olds.

One piece contains constant sexual references and gives women high expectations on how to look. The women in the series have very large breast sizes and hardly any appropriate clothing after the time skip. It is really only for older audiences and is definitely not appropriate for children.

Overall the first book is very enjoyable as a standalone. The plot is easy to follow, but there are a few twists here and there and enough red herrings to keep you guessing. For the most part, the mystery stays within reason.

Mr. Ward was the “mystery older man”. He and Andie had hooked up a few times. She showed up at his house on the night she died, they fought, and she fell and hit her head, but left his house alive.

By the time we get to part 2, essentially half way through the book, Pip is kidnapped by the killer and his identity revealed. The identity was NOT shocking either. But what was shocking was that Pip murders him herself and the second half of the book is basically an instruction manual on how to get away with murder.
